PROSPERITY^® 7A04 aluminum plate belongs to the Al-Zn-Mg-Cu series of ultra-high strength aluminum alloys. It is a commonly used super-hard aluminum and a relatively mature alloy among them. It has been used for a long time and is widely applied. It features high strength and excellent heat treatment strengthening effect. 7A04 super-hard aluminum alloy has high strength, good heat treatment strengthening effect, and medium plasticity in annealed and freshly quenched states. Unlike hard aluminum, the corrosion resistance of 7A04 aluminum plates in the artificially aged state is better than that in the naturally aged state. Moreover, the natural aging process is slow and it takes three months to reach the peak of aging hardening. Therefore, 7A04 aluminum plates are used in the quenched and artificially aged state. Its disadvantages are that the organizational stability is not high, the low-frequency fatigue strength is low, and there is a tendency for stress corrosion cracking. The alloy has good spot welding performance but poor gas welding. After heat treatment, it has good machinability, but the machinability after annealing is not good.
